The small town of Berkeley proudly sits on a small hill in the Vale of Berkeley, midway between Bristol and Gloucester. Overlooking the River Seven, the town is on the Little Avon River, which meanders its way into the Severn at Berkeley Pill.
Canonbury Rise is located on the eastern edge of Berkeley and ideally situated to make the most of the local amenities including a selection of shops, a Post Office, hairdressers, cafes and pubs. Living in Berkeley means you'll be able to enjoy easy access to Stroud, Gloucester, Cheltenham and Bristol, where there are plenty of places to eat, drink, shop and relax.
No overview of this historic town would be complete without a mention of its majestic castle. Built in 1117 and remodelled in the 1350s, Berkeley Castle has been in the hands of the Berkeley family for over 900 years, with the most infamous historic event being the murder of King Edward II in 1327. Today the castle and its wonderful gardens are host to events throughout the year.
There's a range of stunning walks throughout the Berkeley Castle estate and the surrounding areas where you can enjoy far reaching views of the escarpment and the River Severn. Nearby is Cattle Country Adventure Park, which makes a fantastic day out for the whole family with its range of play facilities and outdoor adventure playground. There's also the Butterfly Sanctuary at Berkeley Caste and the Edward Jenner Museum near Dursley.
Berkeley Primary School can be found just on the outskirts of the town and covers pre-school all the way to year six. Rednock School and Katherine Lady Berkeley's School are both Ofsted-rated ‘Good’ secondary schools nearby. SGS Berkeley Green is now open in Sharpness, providing specialist vocational and academic education for learners aged 14-18.
Its peaceful semi-rural setting, coupled with fantastic local amenities and great transport links close-by, means Canonbury Rise could be the perfect location for your new stylish home.
