Horsley Brae Improvements

Major roadworks on A71 and B7011

Works are currently underway to provide major improvements to the road layout at the A71 Horsley Brae junction with the B7011 Brownlee Road. North and South Lanarkshire Councils and Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) are investing a total of £1.6 million in the project which aims to reduce congestion at the busy junction.

The A71 will be widened to create a right-turn lane northbound, with capacity for around 14 cars turning on to Brownlee Road, and a merging lane for traffic travelling south on Brownlee Road and joining the A71.

Update 31 October 2019

Temporary traffic signals are in place on the A71 Horsley Brae between the Garrion Bridge and the entrance to the Garrion Garden Centre. These have been in place since Wednesday 23 October and are expected to remain for approximately three to four weeks. The traffic signals operate 24 hours-a-day, and are manually controlled from 7.00am to 7.00pm to manage traffic flow. Drivers should expect delays during this work, particularly at peak times.

Leave Larkhall on Duke Street towards M74

Join M74 at junction 7

Leave M74 at junction 6

Use right hand lane on slip road to join A723 towards Motherwell 

Join the B754 (right turn at first set of traffic lights)

Stay on B754 and then join the A721 towards Wishaw

Remain on the A721 following signs for Wishaw

Remain on the A721 following signs for Waterloo

Join A73 towards Carluke

At first traffic lights join the B7011 towards Law
