Established in 2014, these awards recognise the achievements of Persimmon’s trainees and apprentices who have performed above and beyond the requirements of their roles.
Each of Persimmon’s operating businesses nominated individuals for four awards, with the finalists in each category attending a special awards ceremony, which was hosted by Group Chief Executive Jeff Fairburn and HR Director, Richard Latham.
Stephen Old was the Young Achiever of the Year in 2016 and winner of the Duncan Davidson Award, which seeks to recognise young people who have demonstrated the same entrepreneurial flair and spirit that Duncan demonstrated over 40 years ago when Persimmon was founded. Architectural technician Stephen joined the business as a graduate and has striven to improve his skills ever since.
Stephen is a worthy winner of our top award. He is a much-valued member of our East Scotland team and an asset to the Persimmon business. The team around him praise his work ethic and his ability to rise to every challenge given to him. Stephen is exactly the kind of person we value in the business and we look forward to supporting him further in his career progression.
All the nominees in this year’s awards should be recognised for their hard work, entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to the business. As the head of the business, the awards are one of the best days of the year, and I look forward to working with our finalists for many years to come.
Jeff Fairburn, Group Chief Executive
The other award winners were:
