Some festive cheer for first-time buyers in Scotland

The Scottish Government recently announced its Draft Budget for 2018-19 which includes the intention to introduce a new relief on Land and Buildings Transaction Tax (LBTT) for first-time buyers in Scotland.

It increases the zero-rate threshold from the current level of £145,000 to £175,000 meaning a saving of up to £600 for you. Great news when you’re buying your first home.

It’s likely the consultation on LBTT policy proposals will commence in January 18 – we’ll keep you posted….

From Glasgow, take the M8 westwards, continuing onto the M898 over the Erskine Bridge. Head westwards on the A82 and continue onto A818 towards Helensburgh. Taking the A818 through Helensburgh, turn right onto West Montrose Street. Follow onto Rhu Road Higher and turn right onto Glenoran Road. The site will be on the right.


The town offers a great range of shopping facilities to suit most tastes and needs.


Home buyers can enjoy all that Helensburgh seafront has to offer, including an esplanade walk; a range of shops; cafes and pubs; a sailing club; marina; and indoor swimming pool.

Helensburgh Golf Club boasts views of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs hills. During the summer sailings, the Waverley paddle steamer calls into Helensburgh pier.

The popular town of Helensbugh has plenty of local events, including a fireworks display on Guy Fawkes Night and an annual Real Ale Festival at the sailing club.

Two miles from the development is the exquisite ‘Hill House’, now owned by the National Trust. The Victorian building was completed in late 1903 and designed by the architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Today it boasts original furnishings and is considered as one of Mackintosh’s finest architectural works.


Helensburgh is known as a commuter town for nearby Glasgow. It is served by three train stations: Helensburgh Upper, Craigendoran, and Helensburgh Central.
