("the 2017 Competition")

Terms and Conditions

The 2017 Competition is only open to registered charities, clubs, schools, individuals and other organizations who provide sports training and sports opportunities within England and/or Wales and/or Scotland) to persons 21 and under and who can satisfactorily demonstrate that to Persimmon Homes. All entrants to the 2017 Competition agree to be bound by the following terms and conditions: 

Entry into the competition:

1. Only those persons or organisations as mentioned above and who can demonstrate to Persimmon Homes’ reasonable satisfaction that:

1.1. they have no greater sum than £100,000 in aggregate in all their bank account(s) as at the date of entry (and who have held no greater sum during the three month period immediately prior to the date of entry); and

1.2. who are not providing (and who do not intend to provide) sports training and sports opportunities to those aged 21 years and under on a professional basis and/or for profit; and

1.3. they will spend any grant awarded through the 2017 Competition on sports kits and/or sports equipment and/or sports facilities and/or sports training/coaching for use by those aged 21 years and under are eligible to enter. Persimmon Homes has absolute discretion in relation to eligibility.

2. Any applicant should complete an online entry form available at www.persimmonhomes.com/charity (the Website), saying in no more than 1,000 words why they are eligible for entry into the 2017 Competition and why they should (a) be eligible for a grant and (b) win the 2017 Competition.

3. All applications should be made between 15th May 2017 and midnight on the 31st December 2017.

4. The 2017 Competition will be assessed in five stages, as set out below.

5. The competition is not open to employees of Persimmon Homes, their agents or anyone connected with the competition.

Stage 1:

6. Persimmon Homes has 29 regional offices, each with its own board of directors. It also has a PLC based in York. Each company’s management team from the 30 Persimmon Homes offices will, each month between (and including) May 2017 and December 2017 consider the applications made during the relevant month and will each select an individual or organisation (being one principally based in the geographical area in which that office operates) that they consider is eligible and should receive a grant of £750. The decision of each of the 30 Persimmon Homes offices is final. The £750 donation is to be spent on sports kits which will feature the Persimmon Homes logo or equipment.

Stage 2:

7. In January 2018 the senior management team in each of the 30 Persimmon Homes offices will nominate (to an independent panel from Persimmon’s Charity Foundation at Persimmon Homes’ PLC office in York) three individuals or organisations who in their opinion should move forward to the “semi-finals stage”. Persimmon Homes shall have absolute discretion in this process and their decision shall be final. The successful nominees will be notified of this decision.

Stage 3:

8. In February 2018 Persimmon’s Charity Foundation panel in York will select one applicant (from the three nominees referred to in Stage 2) for each of the 30 Persimmon Homes offices who in their opinion should move forward to the “grand final stage”. Persimmon Homes shall have absolute discretion in this process and their decision shall be final. The successful nominees will be notified of this decision.

Stage 4:

9. Between 1st February 2018 and 16th March 2018, Persimmon Homes will advertise the names of the 30 nominees selected at Stage 3 on its website. A public on-line vote will be used to determine the winner Persimmon Homes and:

9.1. The final winner will be the eligible individual or organisation that secures the highest number of online votes; and

9.2. The second place applicant will be the eligible individual or organisation that secures the second highest number of online votes; and

9.3. The third place applicant will be the eligible individual or organisation that secures the third highest number of votes; and

9.4. If two applicants have each got the same (highest) number of votes Persimmon Homes’ independent panel at York shall have the final decision as to who out of them shall be the final winner and who shall be the second place applicant (and in this instance the individual or organisation who has secured the second highest number of online votes shall be the third place applicant and the individual or organisation who got the third highest number of votes shall not be the third place applicant). If two applicants have each got the same (second highest) number of votes Persimmon Homes’ independent panel at York shall have the final decision as to who out of them shall be the second place applicant and who out of them shall be the third place applicant (and the individual or organisation that got the third highest number of votes shall not be the third place applicant). If three applicant have the same highest number of votes Persimmon Homes’ independent panel at York shall have the final decision as to who out of them shall be the final winner and who shall be the second place applicant and who shall be the third place applicant (and in this instance the individual or organisation who secured the second and third highest number of online votes shall not be the second place applicant or the third place applicant).

10. The final winner shall be entitled to a prize of £200,000, and the second place applicant and the third place applicant shall each be entitled to a prize of £50,000. Each remaining applicant of the 30 selected at Stage 3 shall be entitled to a prize of £5,000.

Stage 5:

11. On the 22nd March 2018 (or such other nearby date as Persimmon Homes may nominate) a gala dinner will be held at York Race Course (or such other nearby suitable venue as Persimmon Homes may determine). It will be at this gala dinner that the identity of the final winner and the second place applicant and the third place applicant shall be announced. All 30 of the applicant selected at Stage 3 shall be invited to the gala dinner (a maximum of 2 guests per applicant).

12 General Terms:

12.1. The aforementioned prizes may only be paid to the relevant applicant.

12.2. Persimmon Homes reserves the right to feature the names and addresses of the final winner and the second place applicant and the third place applicant winner and Runners Up in any future marketing materials, website publications and promotions, and may also include photographs of the successful applicants’ representatives.

12.3. Only one entry per applicant will be accepted for each of those calendar months referred to in Paragraph 6 above. Where more than one entry is made for an applicant during a calendar month, only the last official entry from the applicant will be considered. Each applicant will nominate the regional office of Persimmon Homes it wishes to consider its application, based upon where the applicant is principally located.

12.4. Entries that are not submitted in accordance with these terms and conditions will not be accepted. Persimmon Homes accepts no responsibility for entries that are lost or delayed or rendered invalid due to incorrect participant data, software or hardware failure or for any other reason beyond its control.

12.5. Persimmon Homes reserves the right to alter or amend these terms and conditions or to delay, postpone or cancel the 2017 Competition (or any of the stages of it) on giving notice to the applicants.

12.6. If there is a conflict between these terms and conditions and any advertising or promotional material or in respect of this competition, these terms conditions will prevail. Persimmon Homes’ decision on any question or complaint concerning the interpretation or implementation of these terms and conditions is final and binding upon all applicants.

12.7. The 2017 Competition and these terms and condition are subject to English law and any jurisdiction of the English courts.

12.8. The promoter of the 2017 Competition is Persimmon Homes Limited, company registration number 4108747 of Persimmon House, Fulford, York YO19 4FE.
