Wombwell (pronounced locally as Wum-well) is a small town near Barnsley and its name is thought to mean ‘Womba’s Well’, or ‘well in a hollow’. Directions

From junction 36 of the M1 take Dearne Valley Parkway/A6195 to Wood Walk/B6096 in Wombwell. Exit the roundabout onto Wood Walk/B6096, and then continue to follow B6096. Turn left onto Copeland Road and at the roundabout, take the second exit onto Main Street. Then turn left onto Barnsley Road and take the second left onto John Street – you will see Holly Bank on your right.

Holly Bank has good transport links with convenient bus routes to Barnsley, Rotherham, Doncaster and Sheffield. The A1, M1 and M18 are easily accessible for commuting and days out.

Wombwell train station is within walking distance of Holly Bank with services running twice hourly to Sheffield (hourly on Sundays) and hourly to Huddersfield on the Penistone Line and Leeds via Wakefield, Kirkgate and Castleford on the Hallam Line (two-hourly on Sundays).
