The Persimmon Group can offer you the ideal opportunity to put the skills and experience you will have picked up during your military service to good use as you develop your civilian career. Whether you already have skills that we can use, or if you are looking for the opportunity to retrain, we are confident that we will have an opening for you.
The Company has signed the Armed Forces Corporate Covenant which demonstrates its support and commitment to the Armed Forces family. We are an MOD approved employer and work in partnership with the Career Transition Partnership (CTP).
Direct Employment Opportunities.
We have many opportunities within the organisation where Ex-Military personnel can use their existing skills and qualifications to great effect within Persimmon. Recent recruits who have joined us have included Trainee Site Managers, Trainee Sales Advisors, Health & Safety Advisors, Trainee Quantity Surveyors, Bricklayers, Joiners and Telescopic Handler Operators.
Training for Ex-Military Personnel
If you don’t have the skills we require, our Combat to Construction Traineeship could provide the ideal route to enable you to re-train into a rewarding second career within the house building industry. We will train and employ you, commit to pay you a living wage during your training, which will lead to a recognised qualification, but above all enable you to embark upon a fulfilling and rewarding career with the Company.
Site Trades: We can train you to become a bricklayer or joiner which through an apprenticeship would lead to an NVQ Level 2. You will work on site and attend a local college or training provider, as well as receiving guidance and coaching from our experienced site-based teams. Fully qualified tradespeople can expect to earn a competitive basic salary with generous production bonuses to recognise your personal contribution.
Site Management: Our Site Managers Training Programme will have an opening that will suit your current skill level and most importantly enable you to put your team working and management skills to practical use. If you have previous construction site experience and have an understanding of residential construction, you can join us as an Assistant Site Manager. You will enjoy a blend of internal and external training that includes shadowing an experienced manager and undertaking an HNC and NVQ level 4, which will equip you with the skills to be ready to run your own site in 2 years.
If you have no prior experience, our 3-year Trainee Assistant Site Manager programme can offer you the opportunity to gain on-site experience and an NVQ level 3 in Occupational Work Supervision, to launch your career in site management. Again offering a blend of internal and external training, we will provide a thorough introduction to housebuilding
