Civil Engineer – Newcastle
Persimmon Homes North East has a vacancy for an experienced Civil Engineer to join their successful and growing team. This role will be based in the regional office in Newcastle.

As a Civil Engineer you will be an integral part of the Technical department, reporting to the Technical Manager. They will support you and develop you in the way Persimmon operate and give you clear objectives. Your role as Engineer will be to support a number of housing developments through the delivery of cost effective engineering solutions. You will need to be adaptable and strong in your management approach with a consistent approach to managing external consultants.
The role will principally be to review external consultants work, co-ordinate the design process, provide valued engineered solutions and provide support to the Land Department in producing engineering viability reports for land acquisitions. You will also be expected to produce some in-house design CAD work.

That you will be experienced in the co-ordination of residential projects, particularly with regard to highways, drainage, utilities, sustainability and other engineering/technical related matters and ideally also with a sound knowledge of geotechnical and structural disciplines.
The candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, being able to manage and coordinate the full range of consultants, authorities and utility providers before, during and post construction. An ability to act independently including programming and planning is essential.
The successful candidate should have a Civil Engineering related qualification i.e. Degree, HND or HNC (or equivalent) and be experienced in the design and co-ordination of residential projects. It is essential you will have a sound knowledge of Local Highway Authority Standards, NHBC Standards, DMRB, Planning Policy Guidelines and Sewers for Adoption. Sound knowledge of S104, S185 S38 / 278 Agreements are essential.
