Group Sustainability Officer – York based (but flexible on location within one of our regional offices)

What is the role?
The Group Sustainability Officer will report to the Group Sustainability Director with focus on the integration of the Sustainability Strategy into our 31 Regional Businesses. Primarily you will support the Group Sustainability Director in managing and developing the Group’s social and environmental performance and deployment of the sustainability strategy and contribute to future strategic direction. You will provide support in the reporting of sustainability performance throughout the Group to the Sustainability Committee, liaising with all relevant stakeholders, internal departments and external consultants and advisors.
We are looking for the following experience, knowledge and qualification:
Proven experience in a Corporate Responsibility / Sustainability role
Good knowledge and understanding of current sustainability issues and trends
Knowledge and understanding of key sustainability reporting e.g. CDP, annual sustainability report, greenhouse gas emissions reporting
Experience of handling, collating and interrogating data
Good verbal and written communication skills
Approachable and personable, able to build relationships across the organisation
Degree-level (or equivalent) education
It is desirable that you have:
House-building or construction sector experience
Good excel skills
Hold a sustainability/CR qualification
