Persimmon Homes hands over 10K to Meningitis Charity

Norwich-based Persimmon Homes Anglia has raised a fantastic £10,000 to help fight meningitis in the east of the UK after Meningitis Now was chosen by staff as their 2018 charity of the year.

Persimmon Homes raised the money through a combination of dress down Fridays, bake sales, selling bric-a-brac from their sales homes, a World Cup sweepstake, and organising a race night for the staff.

Meningitis Now founder Steve Dayman visited Persimmon to pick up the cheque and give his personal thanks for their fundraising efforts. The money raised will be spent on helping people living with the impact of meningitis in the counties of Norfolk and Suffolk.

Head of Fund Raising at Meningitis Now, Beth Bottrill, said this was a wonderful donation by the staff at Persimmon, who should all know that their money would be very well spent on people in the region who had been affected by meningitis.

“Meningitis is a disease that doesn’t discriminate – it can hit anyone, at any time,” she said.

“As well as helping to provide support for people living with the impact of meningitis, it will also help to raise awareness about the disease, and hopefully help others to recognise the possible early signs and symptoms of the disease and get vital help as soon as possible”.

Andrew Fuller, Managing Director of Persimmon Homes Anglia, added: “Every year we ask the staff to nominate charities they care about, and everyone within the business gets to vote. Meningitis Now was selected as our charity of the year for 2018 because of the fantastic work they do, across the UK.”

“We made the charity the focus of all our employee fundraising through the year, including dress down days and bake sales, a charity horse racing event and our customer care administrator Jasmine Sissen took on the challenge of running a half marathon.”

In addition to its charity of the year, Persimmon Homes Anglia makes regular monthly donations to local organisations through its Community Champions and new Building Futures schemes. To apply for funding visit www.persimmonhomes.com/charity
