Loughborough

Loughborough is the second largest town in Leicestershire after the county’s namesake city, Leicester. It’s in a great location for getting around the East Midlands, with the M1 and the border with Nottingham on its doorstep. Nottingham, Birmingham, Coventry and Leicester are all within easy reach and the M1, M6 and M42 create a triangle of motorway routes that keep everything well-connected.

As well as these larger centres for business, industry and education, Leicester is a lovely rural county with a gentle landscape, pretty villages and plenty of opportunities to get a breath of fresh air.

Transport networks

Loughborough is just 8 miles from Junction 23 of the M1 and the A6 Derby Road passes through the town. The train station is on the Midland main line, with services to Nottingham taking about 25 minutes and to Leicester taking just under 20 minutes. Services to London take an average of an hour and a half. Another plus point is that East Midlands Airport is only 9 miles away, at Castle Donnington.

Local amenities

You are guaranteed to have a wide range of facilities and amenities on hand – helped by the fact that there’s a popular university. Its sites are spread across the town, as are public sports facilities, shops, parks and supermarkets. The Market Place is pedestrianised, and to add to the Carillon and The Rushes shopping malls and the busy town centre’s pubs, restaurants and cinemas, there’s a great weekly market on a Thursday.

Out and about

Green spaces just out of town include Outwoods and Beacon Hill Country Park. Jump Giants Trampoline Park is the ideal place for your children to let off steam. For something on the quieter side, peaceful walks along the River Soar will do the trick.
