Wildlife reserve, RSPB Burton Mere Wetlands is just to the north and a short walk from there is the Ness Botanic Gardens with stunning Victorian show gardens. If you’d like to head to the beach, your new build in Deeside is close to the A55 North Wales Express Way taking you along the coast road to Abergele, Llandudno, Bangor and Anglesey. If you’d like to hike through the mountains, the Snowdonia National Park is just over an hour to the west – and the Clwydian Range & Dee Valley National Landscape is just 15 miles to the south.

New schools straight from home

If you have children, a major advantage of living just over the border into Wales is University Tuition fees – Welsh households don’t pay them. Therefore, if you’re close to the border, it could be financially very advantageous to move west. While tuition fees play a part, Deeside is also an excellent centre for schools. There are 12 primary schools around Deeside offering faith, bilingual and Welsh speaking options. Secondary school near your Deeside home include Connah's Quay High School (4 miles), Elfed School (4 miles) and St David's High School (8 miles).

Around 10 years ago, Deeside College and Yale College in Wrexham joined to create the Coleg Cambria at Connah’s Quay. The further education college has excellent full-time, part-time and apprenticeship courses and has been rated as extremely good.  

Great road links to the city

Your new home in Deeside, Flintshire is a stone’s throw from the historic town of Chester (8 miles) with regular bus services into the city. Liverpool to the north along the A550 and M53 is a very commutable 18 miles away. Warrington (25 miles), Runcorn (21 miles) and Manchester (40 miles) are all easily accessible via the M56 and offer excellent employment opportunities. The nearest railway station is Shotton with services to Llandudno (45 minutes) and London Euston in around 2.5 hours.
