Historic cathedral city of Newport in South Wales
Amoung stunning countryside and the River Usk running through the city yet with easy access to the city centre and its attractions. Tredegar House and its 90 acres of beautiful parklands - a Grade I listed building, it's said to be one of the most significant late 17th-century houses in the whole of the British Isles. Home to the powerful Morgan family for hundreds of years, it is now owned by The National Trust who describes it as "one of the wonders of Wales".
Shop ‘til you drop…
Shopping won't be a problem for you as Newport has a selection of superstore's, to name a few the city has Tesco Extra, Asda, Lidl, Co-op Food, Sainsbury's and Morrisons. The city also has a host of retail parks and the city centre's Kingsway Shopping Centre. Plus Cardiff is also just a short drive away with its fantastic shopping and great places to wine and dine.
Convenient transport links
Newport city centre has excellent transport links to locations throughout Wales. Newport train station links to London in just 90 minutes, and there are direct coach services from Heathrow and Gatwick airports and other major centres. The M4 runs north of the city, and there is Newport train station where you will have convenient access to a host of destinations including Bristol and Cardiff. Cardiff and Bristol international airports are both within an hour's drive.
Furthermore Newport is also known for Newport transporter bridge, which crosses the River Usk in Newport. The bridge is Grade I listed and one of less than 10 left worldwide. The bridge currently works for day to day travel, but is also well known as a tourist attraction as tourists can walk across.
Education for all
Newport boosts from a selection of educational resources for all ages including nurseries, infant schools, primary schools and secondary schools. For older students, the city Coleg Gwent City of Newport Campus has a wide range of part and full-time academic and vocational courses. University of South Wales Newport City Campus is within the heart of Newport with full and part-time courses. The University has a selection of Foundation degrees, Undergraduate and Postgraduate degrees.
