It’s much the same upstairs, with bedroom one to one side of the landing, and two bedrooms on the other side. At the heart of Helston you’ll find a wide variety of independent shops and cafés, convenience stores, and a Post Office. On the outskirts, there’s a Tesco Superstore and a Sainsbury’s supermarket, both with petrol stations. The two main shopping streets have all the shops you’ll need for day-to-day living. There’s a Post Office, a couple of local bakeries, and some mainstream retailers such as Boots, Superdrug, and WH Smith, with the addition of local pubs and restaurants.
Heading out on the South West Coastal Path is the best way to explore the hidden coves and secluded beaches. Church Cove at Gunwalloe is a gem of a beach on the Lizard Peninsula. For an easy stroll close to home, Helston’s Coronation Park and Lake is a lovely place to go with young children - everyone loves to feed the ducks! – and Flambards Theme Park will give older children a thrill. Porth Levan is a classic Cornish fishing village, with great pubs, restaurants, and gift shops around the harbour.
Camborne, Hayle, and Redruth are the nearest train stations, with direct long-distance services to London on the Great Western Railway. The main roads serving Helston are the A394, linking Falmouth and Penzance, and connecting with the A39 for Truro, the B3297 to Redruth, and the B3302 for Hayle. For journeys out of Cornwall, you can join the main A30 trunk road at Redruth and head all the way to the M5 at Exeter.
