Shop 'til you drop

Colchester town centre is home to all the shops you could need for a full day of retail therapy. You’ll find a vast array of popular high street brands including those at Lion Walk Shopping Centre and Culver Square Shopping Centre, plus an impressive range of independent boutiques. Fenwick department store offers designer brands, and in between shops you can find refreshment at one of the many bars and eateries around town. Closer to the development, there are several local supermarkets including Lidl less than a mile away.

Put family first

The closest primary schools are St Michael’s Primary School and Nursery (just a 3-minute walk from the development) and Montgomery nursery, Infant and Junior Schools, a 12-minute walk away. Secondary schools include Paxman Academy, The Stanway School and Colchester Royal Grammar School, while the University of Essex offers a wide range of degree courses. The development will also be providing a play area on-site and financial contributions to community purposes, parks and recreation, open space, healthcare, education, and pedestrian/cycle access to the nearby primary school.

Transport

In terms of road and rail transport, St Michael’s Place is conveniently positioned for both. Colchester train station (3.4 miles from the development) operates regular journeys of around an hour to London Liverpool Street, while the A12 – the main arterial road through Essex – is just a few minutes away by car, giving easy access to the M25 and M11. For travel further afield, it’s a 45-minute journey to Stansted Airport.

When you’re not enjoying the shops, cuisine and vibrant nightlife, there are plenty of opportunities to get out and explore local attractions. Colchester Zoo – one of the finest zoos in Europe – is set in 60 acres of parkland and home to over 270 species. You could also take a tour of Colchester Castle and enjoy leisure activities in the castle grounds including crazy golf and a boating lake; enjoy a peaceful stroll at Highwoods or Westlands country parks, go for a round of golf at Birch Grove Golf Club just a 2-minute drive away, or take part in a huge range of sports at Leisure World.
