Plenty to do

There’s plenty to see and do in the area. At the mouth of the River Derwent, Workington is an ancient market town and is well-known for its attractive shopping precinct. The town centre has plenty of high street shops and local independent shops, as well as a town market held every Wednesday and Saturday. There are also useful superstores out of town.

Getting out and about

Residents can enjoy being near to St Bees, a popular seaside area, and the harbour town of Maryport, with its maritime museum, aquarium and the Wave Arts and Sports Centre. The beautiful Lake District is approximately 20 minutes by car from Workington. Carlisle is 34 miles away, with its larger shopping centres and city attractions.

You'll be well connected

Workington has a railway station on the Cumbrian Coast Line, providing rail connections to Carlisle, Barrow-in-Furness, and through trains to Lancaster and Preston. Workington also has excellent bus connections to the neighbouring towns, as well as good road links via the A595 and A596.
