Just 6 miles from East Benton Rise you’ll find Long Sands Beach; as the name suggests it’s a stretch of beautiful golden sand, lying to the north of Tynemouth, and is perfect for families, runners, dog walkers, and surfers alike. It’s Blue Flag-rated and has everything you’d need for either an energetic or a relaxing day. Approximately one mile from Long Sands is Tynemouth Priory and Castle. Once one of the largest fortified areas in England, it dominates the headland and offers beautiful views of the River Tyne and the North Sea.
