Chaucer's Meadow Location Information

Close to two sought-after towns

A 10-minute drive will take you to the heart of Bridgwater. The friendly and attractive town has plenty to offer, including independent shops and high street stores, a state-of-the-art theatre, a good range of pubs and restaurants, an arts centre, two museums, a swimming pool and a cinema. The town is also well-known for its spectacular annual carnival, the oldest in the UK. Or, drive 7 miles south of the development to reach Taunton, the county town of Somerset, which has an even larger range of stores and amenities.

Stunning natural surroundings

Chaucer's Meadow is located on the edge of the Quantock Hills AONB, just minutes from rolling hills, great walking routes and pretty villages. For days out you could visit the arboretum and wild gardens at National Trust Fyne Court, the beautiful formal gardens and lakes of Hestercombe House, and 13 miles away, the peaceful Bridgwater Bay National Nature Reserve. Closer to home, Kings Cliff forest is just 2 miles away and a great place to walk dogs and take children.

Fantastic for families

Petherton Community Primary School is 1.3 miles away, North Newnton Community Primary school is 1.9 miles away, and Phoenix Academy for children with special educational needs is 1.3 miles away. For secondary education there are several good schools in Bridgwater to choose from, including Elmwood School (4 miles away), and those wishing to pursue further education can attend Bridgwater and Taunton College. A few minutes from the development, North Petherton is also home to a childcare centre and a community centre that hosts groups and a youth club.

Great transport links

The development sits just off the A38, a 310-mile route running from Bodmin all the way to Nottingham, passing through major centres including Bristol, Gloucester and Birmingham. The M5 is also located just 2.5 miles from Chaucer's Meadow, meaning you can reach both Bristol and Exeter in less than an hour. For rail travel, Bridgwater station is 4.5 miles away, offering frequent services to Bristol, and 6.8 miles away Taunton station runs direct routes to London Paddington. For travel further afield you can choose between Bristol and Exeter airports, both less than 50 minutes away.
