Colonial Wharf Location Information

Local information

Chatham is set in the heart of The Medway and has a rich maritime history dating back over 400 years. Today it's a popular place to live and has much to offer its residents. Colonial Wharf is built on the edge of Basin 2 which was part of the old Chatham Dockyard and is now home to Arethusa Water Sports. Basin 1 is home to Chatham Marina where a number of boats are moored.

Shopping close by

Just a few minutes' walk from the development, the Dockside Factory Outlet Shopping Centre is home to over 40 retailers, including fashion stores, homewares and a pet shop. Chatham town centre is less than two miles away. Its fully-pedestrianised high street offers a variety of shops as well as the Pentagon Centre, which has a large Sainsbury's supermarket. Rochester, Gillingham and Strood are all nearby towns with popular high streets, each with a variety of well-known brands and independent shops. Further afield is the Bluewater Shopping Centre, the ultimate retail destination.

Plenty of school choices

From pre-schools to grammar schools, private schools to colleges, Colonial Wharf has a good choice of educational opportunities nearby for all ages. Several universities have campuses close to the development, including the University of Kent (Medway Campus), the University of Greenwich and Canterbury Christ Church University.

Great day out

Colonial Wharf has a great choice of entertainment and leisure activities within walking distance. Just minutes away is the Odeon cinema, The Ship & Trade pub and a variety of restaurants, ranging from Chinese to Mexican; perfect for an evening out. For more active entertainment, the Dockside is home to the Flip Out trampoline park, Tru Gym and Pure Gym. Half a mile away from the development is the Chatham dockyard, an historic setting where you can see Royal Navy warships, lifeboats, galleries and exhibitions.

Transport

The closest train stations are in Strood and Chatham, both offering high speed train services to London in less than 45 minutes. The M2 motorway is just a few miles south of the town, connecting to the M20 for Folkestone and the Channel Tunnel, and the M25 for Gatwick Airport and the Dartford Crossing.
