Couple celebrate moving in and engagement on same day

A couple from Bridgend proved that romance is certainly not dead as they celebrated moving in together and getting engaged on the same day.

Ian Spruce and his partner of two years, Annalisa Hawkins, recently got the keys for their first property together, a three-bedroom Persimmon Homes new build at the Glas Y Felin development in Bridgend.

As if celebrating the move into their new home wasn’t enough, Ian decided to pop the question as the couple entered their brand new property.

Ian said: “Annalisa had no idea what was about to happen. She was probably happy enough with just moving in on the day, but I wanted to create a day we would truly never forget.”

“I’d already spoken to the site manager and sales advisors at Glas Y Felin and they had agreed to help with my plans.”

“We walked through the front door and as she put down some boxes, I got down on one knee behind her. She was shocked to say the least. It was a special moment for both of us.”

Annalisa who was left overwhelmed and completely overjoyed, said: “The day was already a massive occasion, moving into our new home together. ”

“It hit me for six when I saw him down on one knee, I had no idea it was coming. It was incredible and definitely one to tell the grandchildren.”

Ian, 31 and Annalisa, 22, have enjoyed a great start to life in their new home after becoming first time buyers. The couple had visited numerous developments before falling in love with Persimmon’s Glas Y Felin site and their brand new Chatsworth style home.

Ian said: “We both love our new home. When we went to visit we knew it was a great place to call home. Persimmon were fantastic at helping us with our Help to Buy scheme and made everything run so smoothly. ”

“Everyone from the site manager and sales advisors to our neighbours, who brought round champagne and welcome cards, have made it a fantastic start to life here.”

The pair now plan to settle down in their new home and save up for the big day.

Annalisa said: “Weddings aren’t cheap so we’ve got some saving to do. We are so happy with our new home and engagement, it’s been a crazy brilliant week.”
