The first people have been given their keys at Golwg y Mynydd in Mountain Ash.
Persimmon Homes’ Golwg y Mynydd site, on land off Cardiff Road, is taking shape fast – and the first purchasers have now moved in.
Fifty-eight of the 110 properties being built at the development have been reserved or sold, and those purchasers will be moving in over the coming weeks, many before Christmas.
One couple looking forward to getting their keys are first-time buyers Carmen Evans and her accountant partner Luke Humphrey.
Carmen, who is 20, has bought a three-bedroom detached Rufford style properly with integral garage.
Carmen utilised the Welsh Government-backed Help to Buy - Wales scheme, along with the Help to Buy: ISA.
With Help to Buy – Wales, purchasers may only need a deposit of five per cent. The Government steps in with up to a 20 per cent equity loan, leaving a 75 per cent mortgage.
The ISA initiative is also another boost for buyers as the Government gives savers £50 for every £200 invested.
Carmen, who is a sales progressor at Persimmon Homes, said: “We made an early bird reservation in November last year and then completed the purchase in January.”
“We are due to move in in December, so it’s getting very exciting now. I’m looking forward to spending Christmas together in there.”
“I am from Pontypridd which is only 10 minutes away, so I know the area well.”
“The Help to Buy scheme was a massive help. We would’ve had to save a lot longer for our first home without it. It’s an excellent way to help people onto the property ladder.”
“I feel really proud to have bought a property at such a young age.”
Victoria Williams, sales director at Persimmon Homes East Wales, said: “We are thrilled with this success at our Golwg y Mynydd development.”
“It’s always exciting when people start moving in and the development really comes to life.”
“The Help to Buy – Wales scheme has been hugely successful in giving people a leg-up onto the property ladder, as demonstrated by Carmen and Luke.”
“We hope they have many years of happiness in their Persimmon home.”
Golwg y Mynydd is made up of two, three and four-bedroom homes in a beautiful rural location.
The site is directly adjacent to Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s flagship Mountain Ash Cross Valley Link Project, which will see a 60m bridge built from Persimmon’s site over the railway line and the River Cynon.
The bridge will provide a key link for traffic traveling on the A4059 and B4275 in order to relieve congestion in Mountain Ash.
The project will cost around £12m and Persimmon Homes has agreed to provide a substantial financial contribution as part of its development through a Section 106 agreement.
