As well as supermarkets, Framlingham offers a range of traditional shops selling locally sourced products, as well as a Barclays bank. Additionally, there is a twice-weekly thriving market selling fresh produce, traditional wares and other artisan products.

Leisure

Framlingham and its surrounding area offers plenty of visitor attractions. Places of interest include Orford Castle, Leiston Abbey, the Long Shop Museum, Bentwaters Cold War Museum, Minsmere Nature Reserve and Orford Ness National Nature Reserve.

For those who love the outdoors, there are plenty of wonderful walks to be enjoyed around Framlingham. What’s more, the Town Council has produced some helpful walking guides, mapping many different routes, from a short 2-mile Castle Walk, to an 11-mile circular route with rewarding vistas.

Framlingham has a fantastic range of leisure facilities. With its 16-acres of sports land, the long-established Framlingham Sports Club provides first class sporting facilities and supports tennis, football, running, archery, croquet, badminton and ladies hockey.

Education

If you’re a family with children, you’ll be pleased to know there are a number of highly regarded schools in the town. Framlingham has a firmly established reputation for education, from preschool and nursery teaching to secondary education, sixth form studies and adult learning. Schools include Sir Robert Hitcham’s Primary School; Thomas Mills High School, which is rated ‘Outstanding’ by Oftsed; and Framlingham College, an independent boarding and day school for children aged 13-18.

Transport

Framlingham has great transport links. 7 miles away, Wickham Market train station, in the nearby village of Campsea Ashe, has regular services to Woodbridge, Ipswich and Lowestoft. The closest mainline station is Ipswich, which then connects commuters to Norwich and London Liverpool Street. There are a range of bus services from Bridge Street in Framlingham to nearby towns, villages and the Suffolk coast.
