Persimmon Homes

Cannock sits firmly between Stafford to the north and Birmingham, Wolverhampton, and Walsall to the south, creating a strong link between them. It’s within a shout of the M6, the M6 Toll, and the M54, creating great connections across the Midlands, and it’s on the edge of the Cannock Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, creating a work-life balance on the doorstep. A new home here will keep you at the heart of things, with the motorway network on hand to get you quickly out and about for work and leisure.

Getting around the Midlands

The motorway network here takes the lion’s share of the traffic, and it will get you efficiently from A to B. Birmingham is 20 miles to the south and Stafford is 10 miles to the north. The M6 passes to the west, the M6 Toll to the south, and the M54 to the southwest heading to Telford. The area’s A roads intersect with the motorways just as efficiently, with the A34 passing right through Cannock and linking Walsall and Stafford. The A5 is just to the south of the town, joining the M1 near Rugby. The A460 will become a firm favourite for days off, heading out of town and into the countryside of Cannock Chase. Train services from Cannock railway station are on the Rugeley, Cannock, Walsall, Birmingham line. It takes around 40 minutes to travel by train into Birmingham, and just over an hour to get into Stafford. National Express West Midlands operates regular bus services to Birmingham, via Walsall, alongside services from Arriva Midlands. Birmingham International Airport is about an hour’s drive away, or an hour and half by train.

Local services

Cannock makes sure you’re well stocked, with its popular high street shops, independents, and a great outdoor market. There’s a shopping centre in Market Place, and the Designer Outlet West Midlands is just off the A460. There are plenty of other local shops and convenience stores, and for supermarkets you’ve got the lot. An Asda and a Tesco Superstore, Waitrose, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons, and Aldi. You can save Birmingham’s renowned shopping experience for a day out.

Schools and colleges

There are two secondary schools for the Cannock catchment area. Cannock Chase High School and Cardinal Griffin Catholic College, both covering 11 – 18 years. Cannock College and the Cannock Skills and Innovation Hub offer a wide range of further education courses, training, apprenticeships, and evening classes.

Leisure and entertainment

For leisure and sport close to home, the Chase Leisure Centre adds an 18-hole golf course to its other facilities. There’s another golf club at Cannock Park. For rainy days, the Electric Palace Picture House is a traditional-style cinema with up-to-date film releases. Once again, Birmingham, is the attention-grabber for evenings out and nightlife. For a breath of fresh air and a countryside walk, Cannock Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty tops the list. It includes bike and Segway rides, horse-riding, and tree-top adventure trails for children.
