Persimmon Homes

Living in Fleckney is all about living in rural Leicestershire. Nearby Leicester has the highest population in the East Midlands, it’s where two major railway lines meet and it’s on the M1’s busy route between London and Leeds, but this is a very rural county. Fleckney combines the tradition of village life, the needs of today’s families and the bigger picture of commuting to work and keeping the local economy going. A new home here gives you the best of community and communication, with easy access to Leicester, Coventry, Market Harborough, Rugby and Northampton.

Getting around

Fleckney is under 3 miles west of the A6, a key route between Market Harborough and Leicester. It’s 6 miles east of the M1 motorway, with Junction 21 just outside Leicester and Junction 20 at Lutterworth. Leicester’s train station brings East Midlands Railway and Network Rail services together. The No 49 bus takes you into Leicester and the No 44 takes you to Market Harborough. The nearest airports are East Midlands Airport – there are Skylink bus services to and from Leicester every 20 minutes during the day and hourly at night - and Birmingham Airport.

Village life

Local facilities are part of the reason for Fleckney’s popularity as a family-friendly commuter village. There are two GP’s surgeries, two pubs, a library, a sports centre, skate park, several shops for day-to-day goods – including a Co-op, a post office and a primary school. There’s even a duck pond and a Millennium Wood planted by the community. A short drive away you’ve got the delights of the Mediterranean Deli & Farm shop. You’ll find the national supermarkets on the outskirts of Leicester, including Sainsbury’s, a Tesco Superstore, Lidl, Asda and ALDI.

Out and about

Two of the county’s main landmarks, Rutland Water and the Foxton Locks at Market Harborough, are great for a day trip. Rutland Water is set in over 4,000 acres of open countryside with walking routes, cycling routes, fishing and water sports. It’s a day to remember at Foxton Locks watching the colourful longboats working their way through the different levels. If you head into Leicester, you’ll discover the National Space Centre, along with the Museum & Art Gallery, the Curve Theatre and a daring activity centre, appropriately called Social Climbing – a dedicated bouldering wall for all ages.
