Persimmon Homes

Gartcosh is on the move. From farming, to mining, to steel, this community east of Glasgow is forging ahead as the new place to be, alongside its neighbour Glenboig. It’s got great plans, it’s bringing in investment and infrastructure, and it’s very much on the map as a growing residential base for the city. Gartcosh has easy access to three motorways, Seven Lochs country park, and a nature reserve to keep its feet firmly on the ground, whilst looking to a bright future with great amenities for its new homes.

Transport routes

The M8, M80 and M73 create a transport triangle around the area that has been designated as the Seven Lochs Wetland Park. It’s 10 miles into Glasgow city centre, 20 miles to Glasgow Airport, 4 miles to Coatbridge for shopping centres and retail parks, and just over 40 miles to Edinburgh. Trains from Gartcosh into Glasgow Queen Street station take 20 minutes and take the pressure off driving in. Local bus services from Gartcosh include routes to Coatbridge, Moodiesburn, and the Glasgow Fort shopping and leisure centre.

Local amenities

You can get the basics in the local convenience stores, grocers and a pharmacy, you can get your weekly shopping in the local supermarkets in Coatbridge where there’s a Tesco Extra, and you can get all the extras at the Fort Shopping Centre on the way into Glasgow. There’s a Vue Cinema, a gym and several restaurant chains there too. Gartcosh has a nursery and a primary school, and the nearest secondary schools are Coatbridge High School, Chryston High School, Lochend Community High School and Cardinal Winning Secondary School.

City centre and country parks

There’s a clever balance going on around Gartcosh, between the busy and exciting city of Glasgow and the peace and calm of the Seven Lochs Wetland Park initiative. In Glasgow, you’ll have high street and high-end shopping, family entertainment and grown-up nightlife, cafés when you want to take a break, and restaurants to dine out in. In the partnership of parks that make up the Seven Lochs Wetlands, you’ll have wildlife and walks, green space and water, time out and family time. It’s a great match for all the family.

Further afield

Gartcosh’s central position puts the capital city of Edinburgh and the coastal towns of Ayrshire within easy reach for days out. If you want to head for the hills, the Pentland Hills Regional Park is your side of the capital. If you want to head for the sea, the M73, M74, and M77 will take you to Kilmarnock and from there it’s a short drive to the lovely sandy beaches of the Ayrshire coast.
