Persimmon Homes

On the south bank of the great Humber Estuary, as it opens out into the North Sea, Grimsby has always been in an important position, heading up northeast Lincolnshire. Times have changed since the town used to be the busiest fishing port in the world and its past is built into its character. It still has the largest fish market in the UK and the port is now a key base for wind farm maintenance. It’s about much more besides, making it a grounded and growing place to live. While Grimsby is busy on the maritime front, adjoining Cleethorpes, a popular traditional seaside resort, is busy with tourism. It’s no surprise, as the sandy beach is miles long and is great for families, for water sports and for watching the world go by. A short distance inland, the Lincolnshire Wolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is there if you want a change of scenery. It’s an unspoilt living, working landscape and a lovely change from the coast.

As one of the East Midlands’ past and present industrial hubs, residents here can enjoy an excellent infrastructure. The A46 and A180 are the main roads into town, connecting with the A18 and the M180 – which is just 15 miles away. The A46 is the road link with Lincoln. Train operators include the TransPennine Express which has a direct service to Manchester Airport. The Riverhead Exchange is the main bus station with bus services provided by Stagecoach in Lincolnshire.

On offer in town

This is a town with a bit of everything – retail, leisure and entertainment. Central Grimsby has a pedestrianised shopping area at Freshney Place, with a huge number of stores. There are two markets and plenty of other options that put some of the essential shops and supermarkets near to your home. There are primary and secondary schools to choose from, and for a break from homework, the asset of the beach at Cleethorpes at weekends or after school in the summer.

A breath of fresh air

The North Sea will give you plenty of that, and inland from the coast there are parks and green spaces dotted around the town. Weelsby Woods, The People’s Park and Cleethorpes Country Park and Cleethorpes Boating Lake will keep all the family happy, and you can get off the beaten track in the Lincolnshire Wolds.
