Persimmon Homes

Guardbridge is a little village with big connections. It’s up at the top of Fife, near St Andrews and Cupar, with the coastal city of Dundee within easy reach for commuters. Its background is the Fife Peninsula, bordered to the north by the famous River Tay, the longest river in Scotland and internationally known for its salmon fishing. St Andrews has some of Scotland’s best golf courses, as well as its famous university, and so a new home here has these iconic Scottish landmarks on its doorstep.

Good connections

The A91 from Cupar to St Andrews is the village’s main road route. To the west, it joins the M90 just above Loch Leven, and to the east it becomes the A915, taking a wide loop inland down to Kirkcaldy.  The other main route through the Fife Peninsula is the A92, running from the M90 at Dunfermline up to Dundee. Leuchars train station is less than 2 miles to the north, with services to Dundee taking under 15 minutes. This is the train station that serves St Andrews too.

Local life

Guardbridge has a primary school, general store, fish & chips and pizza takeaways, and a garage amongst its local amenities. For secondary education, the Bell Baxter High School in Cupar is about 6 miles away, and Madras College is in St Andrews, 5 miles away. The Eden Estuary Centre is a nature reserve right on the doorstep. It’s managed by the Fife Coast & Countryside Trust and is on the Fife Coastal Path which stretches around the peninsula from Kincardine to Newburgh. For supermarkets, you can pop to Cupar, where there’s an ALDI, a Lidl and a Tesco Superstore, and there’s a SPAR just up the road at Leuchars. St Andrews has more options, as well as some lovely independent shops, but Dundee has the lion’s share when it comes to shopping trips.

A little further afield

Fife’s coastline is the first port of call for beaches and golf courses. The Lomond Hills Regional Park is 20 miles inland, for hiking and biking in its 25 square miles of moorland, lochs, and farmland. Dundee is 9 miles away across the Tay, for a city break of shopping, culture, and entertainment.
