Persimmon Homes

Hertford is a town of many layers. It’s a market town that still has a wonderful market at its heart. It’s a self-contained and atmospheric county town with history and heritage, arts and culture, cafés and restaurants, ancient buildings and green space, all working together to make an excellent all-round, family-friendly environment. A new home here is within commuting distance of London, St Albans, Hatfield, Welwyn Garden City, Stevenage and Harlow, and it’s a lovely place to come home to.

Going places

The north-south A10 and the east-west A414 join forces at Hertford. The A10 southbound takes you directly to the M25 at Junction 25. The A414 links with the M11 at Harlow and with the A1(M) between Hatfield and Welwyn Garden City, so that’s three key motorway routes opening up your travel options, all within easy reach. Great Northern and Thameslink trains leave Hartford North station every 30 minutes and get you into London St Pancras in about an hour. For highflyers and holidays, Luton Airport and Stansted are about 20 miles away, and Heathrow is 40 miles away via the M25. Arriva buses operate several services and routes in and around the town.

Staying at home

Hertford has excellent amenities; it’s renowned for its restaurants and pubs, for its farmers’ market and independent shops and attractive town centre. Most of the national supermarket chains have stores here too. There’s a real buzz to Hertford but if you want to step back and have a change of scenery, you’ve got some lovely green space to enjoy too. Hartham Common, Panshangar Park, Balls Park, Waterford Heath Community Nature Park and Hertford Heath Nature Reserve bring the Hertfordshire countryside close to home.

Going to school

In addition to a wide range of primary schools, students can progress to the Sele School which also has a sixth form, the Richard Hale School and some students go to the Chauncy School in neighbouring Ware. Also in Ware is the Hertford Regional College for further education, vocational courses and apprenticeships.

Free time

For evenings out Hertford has a much-loved theatre and great restaurants, for history it’s got a castle and the castle grounds host music festivals, craft markets and open air cinema, for your daily exercise you can take a walk in the park – there are several to choose from, or book a session at the Hartham Leisure Centre and Swimming Pool. Hatfield House is your local stately home and there’s even a local zoo, the Paradise Wildlife Park.
