Persimmon Homes

Keighley is in the centre of a circle of key West Yorkshire and East Lancashire towns, Bradford, Halifax, Burnley, Skipton, and Ilkley. They all share an industrial heritage that saw their growth, and that of the local economy. They still make an important industrial and commercial contribution in the area, and they continue to be thriving centres in their own right. Keighley is the largest after Bradford, and it’s in the heart of West Yorkshire's famous Bronte Country, so there’s a special natural landscape behind your new home too.

Getting out and about

This area has a network of main A routes connecting you with the M65, M62, M606 and A1(M). The A629 is the key link to Halifax, The A6068 takes you to Burnley, and the A650 heads into the centre of Bradford. Keighley train station has services to Leeds and Bradford, and there’s a bus station in the town too. The average train journey into Bradford takes just under half an hour, so it’s a useful commuting route to the city. The average train time for the direct service to Leeds is much the same. Leeds Bradford Airport is 15 miles away via the A650

Getting the shopping

Keighley’s got a largely pedestrianised town centre, making it a family-friendly place to do your shopping and meet with friends. Cavendish Street is home to a range of local independent shops, and you’ve got the Airedale Shopping Centre, the Keighley Retail Park, and this Historical Royal Arcade.   Keighley keeps up the Yorkshire tradition with its colourful indoor market. Its in the Kirkgate Centre, selling everything you can think of. The national supermarkets are in town too, side by side with some excellent world-food stores, and smaller convenience stores.

Choosing a school

A town of this size has plenty of options for school-age children. University Academy Keighley (UAK), Holy Family Catholic School, South Craven School, and Bingley Grammar School provide secondary education. South Craven and Bingley Grammar are just outside the town.

Bronte Country

The Yorkshire Dales, Airedale, the Keighley Moors, and what’s known as Bronte Country, provide the stunning landscapes for West Yorkshire and East Lancashire, and a change of scenery for the hard-working towns. The famous village of Haworth is only 4 miles away, and Keighley benefits from the many visitors that use it as a base for exploring the area. The Hardcastle Crags at Shackleton, the Ogden Water Country Park, and Another World Adventure Centre are great for out-of-town day trips.
