Persimmon Homes

Kirkcaldy shares the great Firth of Forth with Scotland’s capital, Edinburgh. Their shorelines have seen the passage of ships and trade, and the passage of time. Today’s Kirkcaldy is still a busy place for business and commerce, and it’s one of Fife’s key towns. It’s got an unexpected side to it too - the family-friendly Blue Flag Seafield Beach is within walking distance of the town centre and the town is home to the Links Market, the longest street fair in Europe. A new home here is good for work and good for play.

Good connections

You’ll be within reach of several of Scotland’s major cities. Edinburgh is 12 miles to the south and Dundee is just under 30 miles to the north. The A92 connects with Dunfermline, where you can join the M90 for Perth, and Glenrothes. The A915 takes you cross-country to St Andrews. Kirkcaldy train station operates services on the Fife Circle Line and the East Coast mainline. You can travel to Aberdeen and Inverness and all the way to London King’s Cross, putting Kirkcaldy firmly on the railway map. There’s a bus station too, with local services throughout the town and regular services to Edinburgh. There’s a park and ride scheme at Ferrytoll. Edinburgh Airport for domestic and international flights is 26 miles away.

Student life

Kirkcaldy has four secondary schools and eleven primary schools. The first secondary school in the town was Kirkcaldy High School, followed by Balwearie High School, Viewforth High School and St Andrew’s RC High School. Fife College of Further Education has its main campus in the town and the University of Dundee also has a campus here.

Everyday life

Shopping is on everyone’s list, and Kirkcaldy has plenty of choice. The Fife Central Retail Park, Olympia Shopping Arcade and Mercat are the main shopping centres. The main shopping streets are just in from the Kirkcaldy Promenade and are a mix of high street brands and independent shops, cafés, bars and restaurants. Most of the national supermarkets are dotted around the town

Enjoying life

Fife has 14 great beaches in total and so it’s great to have one of the best on your home ground. As well as the seafront and the beach, there are some lovely parks to enjoy, including Beveridge Park, Ravenscraig Park and Dunnikier Park. A Scottish town wouldn’t be the same without a castle and a golf course and Kirkcaldy has both. For time out of town, the Lomond Regional Park and Loch Leven give you a great taste of the countryside.
