Persimmon Homes

Larkhall is in a great location if you work in Glasgow but want to live outside the city. It’s a perfect commuter base for a new home with a direct motorway route right on the doorstep and a straightforward journey time of half an hour. This is a family-sized town on the edge of the pretty Clyde Valley. It’s grown from an industrial past and today has a different outlook, with family-friendly amenities and easy access to the great outdoors of Lanarkshire.

Great communication

The town is to the west of the M74 which is a direct route into Glasgow and one of Scotland’s main motorways. Junction 8 gives both north and southbound access, whereas Junction 7 is southbound only. It only takes 20 minutes to drive into Glasgow. If you've got Edinburgh in your sights, the drive time is about 50 minutes. Larkhall has a train station on the Argyll Line, with regular services into the city taking about 40 minutes. Local bus routes from the town connect you with Hamilton, Lanark, Motherwell, Stonehouse, Strathaven and Wishaw. You’re within easy reach of Glasgow Airport too, it’s less than 30 miles away, just north of Paisley.

Great schools

You’ll have a really good choice of primary schools for your children. Machanhill, Dalserf, Glengowan, Hareleeshill, Craigbank, Netherburn, Robert Smillie Memorial and St Mary’s are the town’s eight primary schools. Older pupils attend Larkhall Academy.

Town amenities

Larkhall has all that you’ll need on a day-to-day basis, with a mixture of local and high street shops, cafés and restaurants. There’s a good range of national supermarkets, alongside Scotmid Co-operative and other smaller convenience stores. Glasgow of course is renowned for its fabulous shopping experience, bars and restaurants. Larkhall’s got a leisure centre, a golf course, a library and an early year’s children’s centre.

The great outdoors

This is a good spot for getting out into the countryside and enjoying a bit of fresh air. Larkhall is between the River Clyde and the River Avon. The Chatelhereault Country Park is to the north of the town, with 10 miles of woodland nature trails to explore. A little further afield the Strathclyde Country Park is very easy to get to. With nearly 1,000 acres, it has the added attraction of water sports activities, family fun boats and bike hire.
