Persimmon Homes

Lennoxtown is a small Dunbartonshire town in a great location for the city life of Glasgow to the south, and the open countryside of the Campsie Fells that rise up just above it to the north. A new home here will give you the perfect taster of the Highlands, with Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park just 30 miles to the northeast. This is a community-spirited town that was shaped by an industrial revolution past. Today it’s one of a group of working towns that follow the edge of the fells and benefit from the very easy access to Glasgow and Edinburgh.

City connections

Glasgow is just 13 miles south of Lennoxtown. The best route by car is via Kirkintilloch, and then onto the M80. The motorway also connects you with Edinburgh, just under 50 miles away. The A89 runs through the town linking Strathblane and Milton of Campsie, where you can pick up the B757 to Kirkintilloch. The M80 becomes the M8 through Glasgow, getting you to Glasgow Airport, just over 20 miles away, in about half an hour. The nearest train stations are at Milngavie, Lenzie and Bishopbriggs, a useful option for central Glasgow.

Local schools

Lennoxtown has two primary schools, Lennoxtown Primary and St Machan’s Primary. Secondary school students head to nearby Kirkintilloch 4 miles away, attending St Ninians High School, Lenzie Academy and Kirkintilloch High School. When it’s time to spread their wings further afield, Glasgow and Edinburgh have many excellent further and higher education options for students.

Local amenities

There are a number of good local shops and convenience stores, including a Co-op. These have the back-up of a Tesco Metro, Lidl and Londis in Kirkintilloch, and there’s a Tesco Superstore in the outskirts of Glasgow at Milngavie. Lennoxtown has a community hub that includes a medical centre, dental practice, and library. Leisure facilities include the Slatefields Kids Playzone, Whitefield Pond fishing lake, and the Campsie Golf Club. For football fans, Lennoxtown is the proud home of a state-of-the-art Training Complex for Celtic FC, a facility that is shared with the local schools.

Local area

The Campsie Fells are literally right on Lennoxtown’s doorstep. You can set off for the highest point, Earl’s Seat, at 578 metres, or you can use one of two local car parks to reach the Campsie Fells waterfalls. There’s a steep climb up to Campsie Glen, another feature of this lovely area. A very different sort of landmark here is the Glengoyne single malt distillery – somewhere to stop off on your way home! Glasgow of course, is there for city centre shopping, culture, entertainment, and nightlife.
