Littleport is a large village in the heart of the Cambridgeshire countryside. It’s just a few miles north of the historic cathedral city of Ely - a great landmark in this wide-open landscape. The village has a useful range of local amenities – including a train station - and a thriving high street and you’ve got all that Ely has to offer for additional shops, places to eat out and entertainment for the family. The Great Ouse River provides plenty of opportunities for riverside walks and it’s easy to get out into the Cambridgeshire Fens and the Thetford Forest Park, to Cambridge and Norwich, and to the amazing Norfolk coast. With all this on offer, Littleport is a great place for a new home.
The great outdoors
This is the county to be in if you love the feeling of space. Cambridgeshire may be flat but that gives it amazing skies, excellent cycling routes and a network of rural roads to explore. The Fens are a traditional and ancient landscape of waterways, dykes and farmland, leading from Littleport up to King’s Lynn and The Wash. For a different sort of scenery, the Thetford Forest Park, a short drive to the east, is a huge area of woodland with trails and picnic areas.
Ely is just 6 miles away, Cambridge is 22 miles away on the A10, Peterborough is 35 miles away on the A1(M) from Huntingdon and Norwich is about 60 miles away on the A11 from Thetford. You’ll soon find the routes that suit you best. It’s a bonus to have Littleport station, with local services on the Fen Line. This is an unmanned station stop.
The focal point of the village is Main Street which has a good range of shops. There’s a co-op and a convenience store, a leisure centre, a medical centre, pharmacy, dentist and optician so you’ll feel well looked after. You can save a trip to Ely for a treat – with all its independent shops, high street stores and places to eat out.
