Persimmon Homes

Malmesbury is a delightful little market town in Wiltshire. It’s close to the southern edge of the Cotswolds - one of England’s most famous Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, but also very conveniently placed on the A429 just north of Junction 17 of the M4, for easy access to both Bristol and Swindon. The town has a balance of independent shops and places to eat, along with the convenience of supermarkets on the outskirts. The traditional stone buildings, ruined Abbey, historic Abbey House and its gardens, pretty market square and riverside gardens make this a lovely place to call home. You’ll be sure to have plenty of visitors if you choose to make Malmesbury your new home.

Community feel

Malmesbury has a really friendly and welcoming feel. It’s large enough to have a good range of local shops and services, but small enough to have a genuine community spirit. Most of the local amenities are within walking distance of each other and quite apart from the eclectic mix of shops, the town centre is simply a lovely place to meet friends for a coffee. The abbey and the listed buildings around it give the town a great sense of history - it’s a hometown to be proud of.

Getting around

The M4 motorway and the A429 - the Cirencester road - are the key routes serving Malmesbury. South of the M4, the A350 connects with Chippenham before joining the A4 for Bath. Mainline train services can be picked up from Swindon which is 18 miles east and from there you have regular services to Reading and London Paddington.

Getting to know the area

Bath and Cirencester are the obvious places to visit for a day out. However, there are some other delights on hand for all the family to enjoy. Westonbirt is the National Arboretum - it’s a significant collection that is all the more topical these days. The Cotswold Water Park is not far away, for water sports and even swimming from a soft sandy beach. You can treat the family to an annual membership.
