Norwich

Norwich is a medieval city with a contemporary outlook, and that’s a driving force in its appeal and success today. It’s got history and heritage, and that has inspired thriving businesses, shops, and attractions – all very good reasons why a new home here is a good move whether you’re working, retired, or bringing up a family. Norwich’s cathedral and cobbled streets go back in time, while its great arts scene, excellent shopping, and all that comes with being home to two universities, keep the city right up to date.

Social life

This city will spoil you with shopping malls, department stores, and high street brands, perfectly balanced with all the independent retailers in The Lanes and Timber Hill. The market is the focal point of city shopping here. It’s the largest undercover market in Europe and is a day out in its own right! Hand in hand with an historic city come cafés, bars, and restaurants, so you’ve got a ready-made start to your social life.

Working life

Norwich University of the Arts and the University of East Anglia are among the main employers in the city, along with retail and tourism. If you work outside the city, the county’s A roads head out in all directions. The A47 will get you to Great Yarmouth, the A11 to Cambridge and then down towards London, the A11 joins the A134 for Bury St Edmunds, and the A140 to Ipswich. Norwich train station is the terminus for the Great Eastern Main Line. Great Anglia Trains operate services to London Liverpool Street and branch lines connect with Cambridge and Great Yarmouth. Norwich International Airport is 4 miles to the north of the city. Travel around the county by bus is made easy with First Bus Norfolk and Suffolk routes, along with other operators, so however you travel, you’ll feel well connected.

Living life

You can live life to the full here, with the best of three worlds to choose from. The attractions and culture of your own home city, the unique Norfolk Broads National Park, and the amazing coast. Norwich is the only city that’s actually in a National Park. With all these amenities, there’s something to interest and entertain the whole family.
