Persimmon Homes

Peterborough sets the pace as a fast-growing city. It’s a forward-looking and well-connected place for your new home, with a history of investment and an excellent infrastructure that supports business and industry, education, and leisure. An innovative Local Transport Plan paved the way for a network of Parkways, city routes aimed to keep business on the move, and for the Millennium Green Wheel, a network of cycle trails, footpaths, and bridleways to keep its residents healthy and happy. It’s a great place to be, however you want to get around.

Living here

This city has great amenities, from shopping to sport, from schools to leisure centres. From the focal point of the historic cathedral, you’ll find independent shops, bars, restaurants, and cafés, all attracting business side by side with the Queensgate Shopping Centre, which has 90 stores and 13 places to eat. The Westgate Arcade, the Rivergate Shopping Centre and the City Market complete the shopping scene. Around town you’ve got the choice of all the national supermarkets, and out of town you’ve got some great retail parks.

On the go

The A1(M) takes you straight down to London while the A1 heads north to Sheffield and Leeds. The A47 is a good connecting route to the M1 and M6 via Leicester. Peterborough is on the East Coast Main Line from London King’s Cross, with intercity trains taking about 50 minutes, and the station is a major interchange for long-distance as well as CrossCountry local services. The nearest airport is Cambridge, which is just over 30 miles away, followed by Luton and Stanstead. Stagecoach and Delaine buses operate throughout the city for national and local travel.

Landmarks and Events

Peterborough’s historic landmark is the cathedral, and its natural landmark is the River Nene. Between the two, they have inspired the growth of the city, making it what it is today. Factor in the East of England Show, the Peterborough Festival and the CAMRA Beer Festival, the Arts scene and sport, and there are events to entertain everyone, throughout the year.

Peterborough has got two further education colleges and is the proud home to one of the four campuses of Anglia Ruskin University. Students leaving the city’s school system have great options on home ground. The university’s other campuses are at Cambridge, Chelmsford, and London.
