Persimmon Homes

This small town in South Wales is a great place for a new home as it’s so easy to get into Swansea for city life, to the Gower Peninsula for beautiful coast and countryside, and to Llanelli for the best of both. Pontarddulais is close to the M4 which means that you can be in the dramatic Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, or over the Severn Bridge into England, via Port Talbot, Cardiff, and Newport, in the same amount of time. That’s not forgetting the Brecon Beacons National Park if you head inland.

Local amenities

You’ll have a good range of local shops and convenience stores close to hand, as well as a Tesco Superstore. Other supermarkets are not far away, there’s a Morrisons and Tesco Extra at Llanelli, and a Sainsbury’s and ALDI at Gorseinon. Swansea gives you all the high street brands, as well as entertainment venues, cafés, restaurants, and nightlife.

Getting around

With Junction 48 of the M4 right on the doorstep, travelling across South Wales is made easy. The M4 westbound splits a short distance from the town, where you can pick up the A48 to Carmarthen and on into Pembrokeshire, and the A483 to Ammanford and on north to Llandeilo, where it joins the A40. The A4138 takes you to Llanelli and the coast. The town’s train station is on the Heart of Wales Line. The average journey time to Swansea is around 40 minutes via Llanelli. The L3 bus takes you to Llanelli, and the X13 and No 16 to Swansea.

Going to school

The town has got three schools: Pontarddulais Primary School, Pontarddulais Comprehensive School and Bryniago School, a Welsh medium primary school.

Time off

Just down the road but feeling a million miles away from the motorway, the Llanelli WWT National Wetland Centre is a fantastic wildlife haven with the added bonus of cycling trails, canoeing (in the summer), hiking and plenty of play areas.  The ODEON in Llanelli has 5 screens for rainy days, and of course if you head into Swansea, you’ve got bit city entertainment for all the family. The Gower Peninsula starts at The Mumbles and has a stunning 19-mile-long coastline with some famous beaches. Try Rhossily Bay, it’ll become a firm favourite.
