Poulton-le-Fylde cleverly manages to be a market town as well as being part of the Blackpool urban area. Your new home here will therefore have the character and activity of the old Market Place, as well as the bright lights, leisure and entertainment amenities of seaside Blackpool. It’s a well-connected place to call home, with easy access to the M6, the major route connecting the busy towns and cities of the North West, as well as the tranquillity of the Forest of Bowland, the Lake District and Cumbria.
This is a friendly community with the Market Place at its heart. The local shops are close to that area and there are some lovely cafés and restaurants too. For your weekly shop there’s a Tesco Express, Lidl and Aldi, along with several other convenience stores. The Jean Stansfield Memorial Park is the town’s main green space. It’s a lovely place to meet family and friends, with a bowling green, multi-use games area and a children’s play area. Blackpool has the lion’s share of entertainment venues and for nightlife, it’s only 5 miles to the town centre.
The M55 comes into the south of Blackpool from Preston. You can join it at Junction 3, via the A585 Fleetwood Road. The M55 joins the M6 in Preston just 13 miles away, so it’s an easy step to one of the UK’s main motorways. The bus companies in the town are Blackpool Transport, Stagecoach, Coastal Coaches and Cumfybus. Train services to the town are operated by Northern Trains and Avanti West Coast, with trains to Preston taking under 20 minutes. Manchester and Liverpool are the nearest international airports.
Going to school
In addition to a choice of four primary schools, Poulton-le-Fylde has two secondary schools – Baines School and the Hodgson Academy. Blackpool & The Fylde College offers post 16+ opportunities. It’s one of England’s top FE colleges.
