St Albans is a fantastic cathedral and commuter city. It’s a sign of the times that those two descriptions come hand in hand and they set the scene for your new home here in Hertfordshire. This is a really popular place to live.\it's within the area covered by Greater London and it’s alive with entertainment, culture and history. The Romans chose it all those years ago and it’s still a great choice.
A city that attracts visitors from far and wide is also a city with the spin-off of shops, cafés, restaurants, museums and parks. It’s even been used for numerous film sets so that’s saying something. There’s going to be something for all the family here. There’s a great sporting tradition here too, with St Albans Cricket Club, St Albans City FC and St Albans Centurions Rugby League Club. Shopping here is definitely dual-purpose; it's practical - there are lots of high street brands and supermarkets - and it's for pleasure. The street market is the icing on the cake.
St Albans is so well connected in every sense of the word. The M1, M25 and A1(M) are on its fringes giving you excellent routes into and around London and to the north. The A10 is just to the west putting a trip to Cambridge within easy reach. With the City just 20 miles away, train travel is the usual option as you can be at London St Pancras in just 20 minutes. The M25 will whisk you around London to Heathrow Airport in about 40 minutes or you can catch the Heathrow Express or the Heathrow Connect from St Pancras.
The cathedral is without doubt one of the highlights of this historic city. You won’t fail to love the impact it has had on the centre of St Albans over hundreds of years. The cathedral green, the independent shops and cafes of the old quarter – it’s a great showcase for your hometown if you live here and for friends and family to enjoy when they come to visit.
