Persimmon Homes

Winnersh is a popular ‘village’ suburb on the edge of Reading and adjoining Wokingham. It’s a great location for commuting to Oxford and London, and so it’s a good choice for a new home for growing families as well as for professionals. The local facilities have a great back-up in Reading but there’s plenty for all the family in Winnersh itself. With the M4 on the doorstep, it’s easy to get out and about whether for work or for pleasure.

Living here

As well as the benefits of the location, Winnersh has got excellent amenities for growing families. There are three primary schools for younger children and the Forest School is the local secondary school (for boys, though with a mixed Sixth Form). On the shopping front, Winnersh has got the area’s largest Sainsbury Superstore for the big shop – as well as a couple of convenience stores if you forget anything. The Reading Showcase Cinema is on the edge of the village for rainy days and evening entertainment, and you’ve got Dinton Pastures Country Park and Winnersh Meadows for green space, lakes, and an award-winning play park.

Getting around

Winnersh is tucked between the M4 and the A329(M) on the Reading Road from Wokingham. The focal point for the two main local roads is called the ‘Winnersh Crossroads’ – the junction of the A329 with the B3030. The train station is on the Reading to London Waterloo line, with trains into the capital taking on average 1 hour 20 minutes and there are usually 42 trains a day! Buses between Reading, Wokingham and Bracknell run through the centre of Winnersh every 20 minutes. You’ll certainly feel very well-connected living here.

Great for children

Dinton Pastures Country Park is a great asset to Winnersh, with boat hire, a play park, the rather unusual Disc Golf – a bit like frisbee but with an 18-hole course, holiday clubs and water sports taster sessions if you want to test the waters with sailing, kayaking, or paddle-boarding.

Great for grown-ups

There are adult courses and sessions at Dinton Country Park too! Winnersh has a great garden centre, so you can make plans for your new garden. Out and about you can head into the Chiltern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with a spot of lunch in Henley-on-Thames. If you want to stay a bit closer to home, there are pretty villages to explore in rural Berkshire.
