Persimmon Homes

The walled city of York is world-renowned as being one of the UK’s most beautiful destinations, and with its beautiful historic architecture and many places of cultural interest, it’s easy to see why. It’s also a fantastic place to live and work, with a wide selection of shops, dining and entertainment venues, plus an impressive selection of schools and transport links. With all this on offer as well as the stunning Yorkshire countryside on your doorstep, York is a place you can be proud to call home.

Lots to do in the local area

York provides a beautiful and inspiring setting to make the most of local attractions and amenities. From the theatres to museums, galleries to music venues and unique attractions such as York Dungeon and Clifford’s Tower, you will never struggle to fill a weekend or day off. The charming city is also awash with restaurants, cafes, and, as the local tale goes, 365 pubs – one for every day of the year!

There’s a great selection of independent shops in York, and many shopping centres in and around the city including Coppergate Shopping Centre, Vangarde Shopping Park, Monks Cross Shopping Park and McArthur Glen Designer Outlet, which sits 15 minutes south of the city and boasts over 120 stores.

Excellent education

In York and the surrounding area you’ll find a great selection of schools for all ages, including 17 rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted. For older students there’s a number of colleges, including York College and Access Creative College, as well as the highly-regarded University of York.

Great transport links

There are easy links by road to York city centre (A19), Leeds, Harrogate and coastal areas via the A64 and A1M, along with numerous bus routes around the city. Just on the edge of the city centre, York train station provides access to the wider area and direct routes to London and Manchester.

For travel further afield Leeds Bradford Airport is under an hour away, while Manchester Airport can be reached in two hours via a direct train from York station.
