Kirkcaldy has long been nicknamed the ‘Lang Toun’ (Scots for long town) in reference to the town’s 0.9 mile main street. The town is also known for its colourful Links Market; Europe’s longest street fair, with over 200 fairground rides and attractions, held each Easter on the town’s esplanade. It been a popular part of the town’s history for over 700 years!
The town centre is bustling with both independent and chain stores. More notably the very popular Fife Central Retail Park is located only a 5-minute drive from Rosslyn Gait. There is also a 24-hour Asda within walking distance of the development.
Kirkcaldy Galleries is home to the town’s museum & art gallery and central library. The building opened in 1925 but in recent years was given a £2.4 million renovation by Fife Council. The Adam Smith Theatre, the town’s main auditorium, plays host to theatrical and musical productions as well as showing a selection of arthouse and commercial films.
There are three main public parks in Kirkcaldy; Beveridge Park which includes a boating lake, a formal garden with fountain, a skateboard park, rugby ground, football pitches and woodland walks. Family-friendly Ravenscraig Park is adjacent to Ravenscraig Castle and finally there’s Dunnikier Park, which consists of an area around Oswald House and is home to numerous woodland walkways.

Kirkcaldy has direct access to the A92 (0.5 miles), heading south to Dunfermline and Edinburgh, or north towards Dundee and Perth. Kirkcaldy has a mainline train station providing regular services to Edinburgh, Dundee, Perth and beyond.
