Shopping

As a traditional market town with a rich heritage Darwen town centre provides the perfect opportunity to escape the hustle and bustle of city centre shopping. There's a fantastic indoor market which has run since 1871. There are over 130 stalls selling clothes, antiquities and a variety of local produce. Darwen is well-known for its hospitality as well as offering plenty fine food and ales. There’s an assortment of restaurants, cafes and bars in the town centre catering for all tastes. There’s also a great choice of entertainment options locally.

Leisure

If you enjoy getting out and about, why not take a stroll along Sunnyhurst Wood’s seven miles of paths, towards the 86ft-tall Darwen Tower, built at the end of the 1800s to celebrate Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee. If you’re a keen golfer you can tee off at Darwen Golf Course’s challenging 18 holes, or, if fishing is more your thing - you’ll be sure to enjoy the numerous waterways and reservoirs in the area.

If you’re looking to work up a sweat, Darwen Leisure Centre is an incredible inclusive and welcoming health and fitness venue offering a range of equipment and facilities and affordable memberships to suit everyone.

Transport

Darwen connects to the motorway system at Junction 4 of the M65 at Earcroft, on the town's northern boundary, and there’s a great supply of public transport options to take you around the local villages and towns. For travel further afield, Darwen stands across the Ribble Valley railway line.

Darwen railway station has up to two trains per hour between Blackburn and Rochdale and one train per hour continues beyond Blackburn to Clitheroe.

Health

Darwen Healthcare is a member of Blackburn with Darwen's Local Primary Care GP federation. The Local Primary Care Federation runs a GP extended access service that provides additional appointments at no less than four neighbourhood surgeries.
