Stamp Duty Holiday
When you buy a new home in England, the Government charge a tax called Stamp Duty. For a limited time, the threshold has been extended which means that if you buy a new home up to the value of £250,000 until 30th September 2021, there's no Stamp Duty to pay.
So, if this is just the help you need to get you moving into a sparkling new Persimmon home, make sure you don't miss out!
From 1 July 2021 until 30 September 2021 the Stamp Duty rates have changed but you can still save up to £2,500 on a home worth £250,000.
Good news for first-time buyers too
The rules from 1 July 2021 are slightly different if you're a first-time buyer. You’ll pay less tax if both the following apply:
- you, and anyone else you’re buying with, are first-time buyers
- the threshold increases to £300,000 provided the property you're buying is less than
Remember - for existing homeowners and first-time buyers, you'll need to complete on your home (not just exchange) before 30th September 2021.
How much could you save?
You can use HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) Stamp Duty Land Tax calculator to work out how much tax you’ll pay.
The Stamp Duty threshold changes again on 1st October to £125,000 so make sure you act before this to make use of the fantastic savings.
