  • Persimmon Homes Building Futures sport winner Swindon Children's Scrapstore

    Persimmon Homes has given away more than £1million to support children’s health, sport and education & arts through its hugely successful Building Futures competition in 2019. Building Futures made donations of £1,000 for 128 groups over four months from February to May 2019 and 96 finalists stood the chance of winning first second and third prizes of £100,000, £50,000 and £20, 000 in each category and the winners, decided by public vote, were announced at a gala dinner. Every finalist left with at least £5,000. Scrappers Boxing Gym, managed by Swindon Children’s Scrapstore won the sport category – this is their story. The £100,000 prize winner in the education & arts category was Portsmouth Down Syndrome Association and the Young People’s Counselling Service Annabelle Davis project in Peterborough was handed the health award. The second prize awards of £50,000 went to Leeds Rowing Club for sport, UK Astronomy in Milton Keynes for education & arts and Norwich-based Toy Like Me for health. Andover BMX Club scooped £20,000 for sport in third place, while Wargrave House in Newton-le Willows won the education & arts award and Butterwick Hospice Kidz Club in Stockton was handed the health award. As an official partner of Team GB, Persimmon Homes are extremely proud to be supporting the organisation in the run up to, and beyond, the next Olympic Games in Tokyo.
