Westhaven boosts from large superstores within walking distance with Asda to the west and Morrisons to the east. Barry town centre is 1.2 miles only a 15 minute walk, the town has a range of high street shops including New Look, Boots, The Works, a Post Office and many banks. For even more shops Cardiff is 9 miles a 25 minute drive, there’s Royal Arcade and Queens Arcade, St David’s shopping area, The Capitol Shopping Centre and Cardiff Market for local products.
Close to Barry there is Porthkerry Country Park, ideal for fun family days out. To the south there is Barry Island a seaside with a sandy beach, amusements and a pleasure park for all ages. There’s also a selection of cafes and fish bars. Within Barry there is Barry Leisure Centre. In Cardiff there is Cardiff Castle, Bute Park, National Museum Cardiff.
Within Barry there is a selection of primary schools, the catchment schools are Holton Primary School and High Street for English medium and Ysgol St Baruc for Welsh medium. For denominational schools there is All saints Church In Wales (CIW) Primary School and St Helens Catholic Primary School. There are other primary schools in the area, which include Romilly Primary School, Barry Island Primary School for English medium. For Welsh medium there is Ysgol St Curig
For secondary education English medium there is Whitmore High School and Pencoedtre, St Richard Gwyn RC for denominational and Ysgol Gymraeg Bro Morgannwg for Welsh medium. For older students there is Cardiff and Vale College.
For universities Cardiff boosts from Cardiff Metropolitan University and Cardiff University within the city. To the north is University of South Wales and to the west in Swansea, University of Wales.

Westhaven is ideally located under a mile from Barry train station which heads west to Barry Island and east to Cardiff Central which has many links to Newport, Bridgend and London, plus many local links. Cardiff airport is only 3.6 miles with a selection of direct files to popular holiday locations. There are many connections on the roads with the A4050 and A4226 close-by.
Within Barry there is Waterfront Medical Centre and West Quay Medical Centre. Plus Barry Hospital is only 1.3 miles and University Hospital Llandough 6.1 miles.
