A zero carbon future
At Persimmon, we're proud to build our homes to high levels of energy efficiency. We've made it our mission to have zero carbon ready homes in use by 2030, and have set targets to reduce carbon emissions in our own operations by 46% by 2030, and to become a net zero carbon business across all our activities by 2045.
To achieve this, we’re working to science-based carbon reduction targets in line with the Paris Agreement’s 1.5°C warming pledge. We're investing in low-carbon solutions and technology to further reduce the carbon footprints of our homes and our impact on the planet.
Our sustainable homes come with a range of features designed with energy-efficiency in mind. These include:
This means the vast majority of our homes carry an EPC rating of either A or B.
One of the key benefits that comes with a more energy-efficient new build, is how much you’ll save on your energy bills. This is thanks to insulation and double glazing to reduce heat loss, along with reduced water use thanks to efficient appliances.
Recent research by the HBF found that the average new build house buyer saves around £421 each year on energy bills.
As of June 2023, we're boosting the energy efficiency of our homes.
We build our Eco Range homes in line with new Part L regulations, resulting in a 31% reduction in carbon emissions due to eco-friendly features. These can include:**

We all have a part to play in preserving our nature and wildlife and supporting ecosystems – especially now that nearly one in six species in the UK is facing extinction. That’s why as a company we’re also delivering a Homes for Nature Commitment, which has been developed with the Future Homes Hub.
We’re participating in a 5-year programme which ensures nature-friendly features on all new site planning applications. These include: Bird nest boxes or nest bricks, such as swift bricks, to be installed at a minimum of one per equivalent plot (some houses may have more than 1 brick) Hedgehog highways to help hedgehogs roam freely Nature-friendly planting, including native species and pollinator plants.
You’ll also see bat boxes, insect bricks and hibernation shelters across many of our sites, along with nature-friendly drainage systems. With the support of ecology and landscape experts, we’re working to create communities where not only you, but also nature, can thrive.
Being sustainable goes beyond our houses. We choose our development locations with the environment in mind, putting you within reach of local amenities and public transport to help reduce your travel footprint. We also create green open spaces for relaxation and play, shared facilities including neighbourhood allotments, and biodiverse habitats. Making our developments kind to the planet, whilst bringing communities together.
