Perfectly positioned to benefit from both the M8 crossing the country from Glasgow to Edinburgh and the M80 - both can whisk you into the city centre in 15 minutes. If you prefer to travel by train, the journey time is 20 minutes. If you need to head in the opposite direction, you can be in Edinburgh in just over an hour on the M8, or by train in just under an hour and a half. The M73 and M74 are within easy reach too. It takes about 25 minutes to drive to Glasgow Airport for domestic and international flights. There are also good bus services to the surrounding areas, with the fastest city service usually taking about 12 minutes.
Local facilities
Your new house in Garthamlock has the usual range of local shops and services. It also has the Fort, a large shopping centre close to Junction 10 of the M8, with high street brands, restaurants and a cinema. The Parkhead Shopping Centre and The Lochs Shopping Centre are two of the local alternatives. This side of the city is well served by supermarkets, but for dedicated high street shopping, eating out and entertainment, you can’t do better than the city centre.
Schools within walking distance
You have a choice of primary schools straight from your new home. All feed into the Ashton Secondary School or you could try neighbouring schools including Smithycroft Secondary School or Lochend High School. For faith schools there's St Andrews RC Secondary School and All Saints Catholic Secondary School. For further education, Kelvin College, Easterhouse Campus, is close to your new build, and the City of Glasgow College has two campuses in the city.
Countryside living on your doorstep
You are spoilt with three great parks close by, separate places to visit but all part of the great Seven Lochs Wetland Park, a large-scale heritage and nature park based around seven natural lochs. The Drumpellier Country Park covers 500 acres and includes two natural lochs, woodland, moorland, a Visitor Centre and an adventure playground. Hogganfield Park covers over 100 acres, with easy access and a proper path around the loch.
