Telford
Telford was heavily developed in the 1970s and was built with all the amenities needed for modern living. Against the backdrop of the beautiful Shropshire Hills, a new home here allows you to benefit from easy access to nearby cities. A Persimmon home means you’re ideally placed to benefit from country and city living.
Telford is situated just to the north of the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and within easy reach of the cities of Wolverhampton and Birmingham. As a modern town, it has all the infrastructure and amenities you could need.

Living in Telford
Walk and cycle
When the town was built, it was designed around the car. This means there are excellent links to nearby cities, with Wolverhampton and Birmingham both reachable in under an hour by car, and under 40 minutes by public transport. But, if you want to get out into nature on walks or cycles, you’ll be well served.
The Town Park has 14 miles of cycle-friendly pathways, and you can pick up Sustrans cycle route 55 which runs 113 miles between Ironbridge and Preston. There is also a wealth of walks to enjoy. From long-distance trails to short strolls, there’s a great variety of footpaths and scenery. One of the most popular is the Wrekin Walk, which climbs over 400 metres to the summit of an Iron Age hill fort. With a combination of great transport links and plenty of opportunities to get moving under your own steam, you’ll benefit from links to the city and the ability to get away from it all with a new home from Persimmon.
An AONB and a UNESCO Site on your doorstep
Telford is near Shropshire Hills, providing a great variety of scenery and miles of footpaths, plus plenty of opportunities for canoeing, fishing and swimming. With this on your doorstep, you’ll never be short of an opportunity to get out and enjoy the outdoors.
Just to the south of the town is Ironbridge Gorge, a UNESCO World Heritage site, which is the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution. Now mostly reclaimed by nature, there is a museum, shops, cafes and restaurants that make this an excellent place to visit.
Cities and employment opportunities
With Birmingham and Wolverhampton within easy reach, it is an ideal location for commuting with work. But, if you want to work closer to home, a number of large IT, technology and manufacturing firms moved to the town, as well as business support schemes launched for entrepreneurs. So, if you’re moving to Telford, you’ll be able to benefit from great employment opportunities in the cities and close to home.
