Burry Port
Your new house in Burry Port is part of the dramatic historic coast of Wales, with stunning views across to the Gower. Once a busy harbour was built in the 19th century to ship coal from the Gwendraeth Valley as well as tinplate, copper, silver and lead to the world.
Part of the Millennium Coastal Park, your new home has the famous Parson’s Pickle Factory, with pickled cockles and mussels with a secret local ingredient. Surprise visitor, Amelia Earhart, became the first female pilot to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean landing here in 1928 – her monument still stands in the town centre.

Wide open spaces
A short drive from your new house is the Pembrey Country Park and Beach offering 500 acres of parkland packed with woodland walking trails and accessible paths as well as golden sandy beaches. Try the 18-hole crazy golf course or let the children go bananas in the adventure playground. If you’d rather have adrenaline than ice cream, head to Wales’ longest toboggan run and ski slope topping a whopping 130 metres.
Good schools within walking distance
There are three primary schools, Burry Port Community Primary School, Ysgol Parc-y-Tywyn and Pembrey Primary School. For children aged 11-16, there’s Glan y Mor Comprehensive School - which literally translates as Seashell Comprehensive School.
Great transport links
While the coal shipments have ceased, the Pembrey and Burry Port railway remains, with regular services to Pembrokeshire, Swansea and Cardiff as well as London and Manchester. The A484 hugs the coast east to Llanelli (5 miles) then onto Swansea (16 miles) via the Loughor Bridge. If you’d like to explore using pedal power, the Millennium Coastal Path and National Cycle Route 4 offer stunning seascapes and scenery.
